Power On wrapped up the week of May 25–28. After Monday and Tuesday — the first 7 lessons at Lyceum No. 3 and Rynhatska Gymnasium — the team worked in three more schools in Chernivtsi on Wednesday and Thursday. Total for the week — 20 lessons in 5 schools.
Wednesday, 05/27 — Gymnasium No. 16, Chernivtsi
9th grade — the topic “5 Love Languages”; 6th and 7th grades — the topic “Bullying”.
Two topics in one day for different age groups. With the older students — a conversation about five ways of expressing and receiving love, and about how misunderstandings in relationships are often not a lack of love, but simply different “languages.” With the 6th–7th graders — about bullying: how to tell ordinary conflict from bullying, why a witness’s silence strengthens the aggressor, and what to do if you or someone nearby is being bullied.
Thursday, 05/28 — Lyceum No. 19, Chernivtsi
4 lessons · classes 6-A, 6-B, 6-C, and 6-D · topic: “Bullying”.
The entire 6th-grade cohort in one day. For this age, bullying is one of the most urgent topics: the lesson is built around specific situations, the roles of “aggressor — victim — witness,” and simple steps for how to break this cycle and who to turn to for help.
Thursday, 05.28 — Chernivtsi Military Sports Lyceum
6 lessons · classes 10-A, 10-B, 10-C and 11-A, 11-B, 11-C · topic: “HIV/AIDS”.
With the older students at the ChVSL — an open conversation about HIV/AIDS: the real ways it is transmitted and, most importantly, how the virus is not transmitted (to reduce stigma around people living with HIV), why testing matters, and what responsibility for your own health means.
